Martin Smith is a travel photographer who has spent the past twenty five years building up a varied and diverse portfolio of images from around the world. Born in Hampstead in 1956, Martin was educated at Harrow Weald Grammar School and the University of Bradford. He combined a highly successful career within the investment banking industry with a passion for photography for many years. In 2001 he started to publish his work, selling via galleries and online, and produced his first book. Since then he has traveled extensively and established a successful company which supplies original photographic artwork to businesses and individuals.

Martin was initially inspired to photograph landscapes with his first, Russian, cam­era in the seventies. His early work focused on the UK and Europe but as he travelled further afield he became and remains more fascinated by the exotic and the remote. In the mid-nineties, influenced by some of Australia’s finest landscape photographers, he developed an interest in world panora­mas.
