Martin Smith is a professional photographer who has spent more than thirty years building up a collection of captivating images from around the world. Since publishing his first series of prints early in the new millennium his work has been attracting more and more attention, and he was recognised in this year’s prestigious Travel Photographer of the Year awards.

Born in Hampstead, London in 1956, Martin was educated at Harrow Weald Grammar School and the University of Bradford. For many years he combined a highly successful business career with his passion for photography.

His early work focused on the UK and Europe as he travelled with his trusty rangefinder camera. Later, inspired by some of Australia’s finest landscape photographers, he developed an interest in world panoramas. Combined with a keenness to embrace the digital revolution, Martin now uses state of the art digital equipment, techniques and processes, with a touch of perfectionism, to powerful effect.
